Memoirs of a Geisha

This book had a very magical feel about it, I enjoyed it a lot. That being said, it's hard for an American male to truly capture the perspective of a Japanese female. It lost major points in way of respect for me as not all of it is accurate, and he was sued by the retired geisha who helped supply him with information. I would also like to point out to readers that the book is inspired FICTION and should be read as such (the title can be a bit misleading). I would not recommend this book if you are simply interested in learning about the geisha world (as it is fiction), I would suggest reading a book either written by a geisha (as only they can capture what it was really like), or some sort of non-fiction-informative book. I would however recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a magical tale of another life time, one who realizes that fiction should not be taken at face value.
